The following are free step by step instructions for you to print and use. These projects have a package available which will make 5 cards (either identical or similar designs) and include all the items you need to complete the project (excluding basics like tools and adhesives). We have also provided details of the items used in the project if you would like to buy them separately.
Note: You can substitute the present button with any 3D embellishment you like.
1. Cut a 4” x 12” piece from 12”x12” cardstock and score into three equal 4” squares.
2. Diagonally score the left hand square from the top right to the bottom left corner.
3. Score the right hand square in the same way (with the score line in the same direction top right to bottom left).
4. Fold each of the diagonal score lines backwards and the vertical score lines inwards.
5. When the card is closed, the diagonal folds should lie neatly alongside each other.
6. Cover the diagonal fold section (the front of the closed card) in one patterned paper and the inside central section in another co-ordinating colour.
7. Take a 50cm (18”) piece of chiffon ribbon and wrap around the card so that it can be tied at the right hand edge. Glue to the back and front left hand side of the card, but not to the front right.
8. Cut a 8 x 6cm rectangle of cardstock (same colour as the base card).
9. Cut a 7 x 5cm rectangle of striped paper and stick on the rectangle of cardstock.
10. Cut a small rectangle of paper from the waste you stuck on the inside centre of the card (the size will depend on the size and shape of the embellishment you are using). Define the edges with a black inkpad swiped around the edge. Stick this to the layered rectangle above.
11. Glue the present (or other embellishment) to the centre of the layered rectangle you have made.
12. Stick the finished topper to the left hand side of the front of the card so that it is central when the card is closed.
13. Use two brads on the top right and bottom left of the front flaps to secure them down.
14. Tie the ribbon at the right hand side and your card is finished.
